Capacity Building – Key Stakeholders

The key stakeholders involved in the successful implementation of the any social accountability tool are the governments, who fall on the supply side and the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) who fall on the demand side. Bringing a consensus between these two key stakeholder groups can help in effective implementation of social accountability initiatives. The following points can be consideration while designing capacity building strategies for these stakeholders.

  1. Beneficiaries & Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) 
    1. Increase the level of understanding on social accountability and on its core elements (transparency, participation, dialogue and interface),
    2. Promote dialogue of service users and service providers on the improvement of basic service delivery, and 
    3. Enhance the knowledge of achievements and challenges of Social Accountability
  1. Government Institutions & Officials (including elected members) 
    1. Create awareness and enhance knowledge on social accountability for leadership,
    2. Learn from the experiences of other countries on the social accountability agenda,
    3. Identify achievements and challenges of various projects operating in the country, and 
    4. Encourage the participation of leaders from the government and the CSOs in interface and dialogue.
